A company is a single Business Central company within a tenant. If you have three companies in your tenant (e.g., Cronus, Fabrikam, Contoso), each one is billed separately at $200/month.

Annual billing is required, but you can cancel at the end of your billing period. No long-term lock-in beyond the current year.
